3 Creative Ways To Celebrate Pride

Pride Month is a special time for us because our 28Muses Co-founder Alyssa Gundred is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ Community.

Celebrating Pride Month with your team is important for several reasons. First, it shows support and appreciation for the LGBTQ+ employees and customers who contribute to the success of the organization. Second, it promotes a culture of inclusion and diversity, where everyone feels valued and respected regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Third, it educates and raises awareness about the history and challenges of the LGBTQ+ community, and encourages allyship and advocacy. By celebrating Pride Month in the office, we can create a more positive and productive work environment for everyone.

In the 28Muses way, a true celebration involves visualizing and articulating with everyone’s unique human expression. These virtual experiences are for teams of any size, we've done it with 5 people and we've done it with hundreds. So here are 3 unique ways for your team to celebrate Pride:

Visual Music

Led by a queer-identifying composer who says that "the pride I have in my identities is imbued in most everything I do and am," Visual Music is a sonic collage of Pride that will be filled with laughter and authentic connection.

Visual Music explores how our sense of hearing and seeing can work in concert to more fully experience our world.

Utilizing both sides of the brain, we will transform visual shapes into sounds, and sounds into graphic abstraction in a one hour virtual session led by composer and artist Nathan Hall.

For Pride Month we will incorporate 2 prompts:

  1. What does Pride sound like to you?

  2. What might a Pride Parade look like in sound form (besides rainbows of course!)

This fun virtual team experience reveals how each person thinks and perceives in a unique way.

Pride Haiku

However you identify, we will utilize the power of Haiku to find the words to express your own journey and connection to others. Led by lesbian founder of 28Muses, Alyssa Gundred, Pride Haiku is a meaningful way to celebrate Pride Month with your colleagues and peers.

Alyssa will share the simple yet profound process of Haiku she learned from a Japanese master in Tokyo. This is a come as you are experience, just come to the zoom with paper and writing utensil.

Rainbow Collage

We’ll be guided into the wide and varied history of collage and weave a story with rainbow paper ephemera that you can mail same day. We’ll explore various techniques: hand-ripping paper, layering, color combinations, using text and photographs, composition and accessible prompts for further exploration.

The end result will be beautifully crafted postcards with messages of Pride that can be framed and kept or sent to a loved one, old friend, or colleague.
